Cultivating public sector AI talent for smart government

:::

In response to the global rise of artificial intelligence (AI), the Executive Yuan is spearheading a program to increase the AI literacy of its civil servants, aiming to integrate AI into daily government operations to improve administrative and service efficiency. Through a systematic and strategic approach involving close collaboration among industry, government, academia and research institutions, the program seeks to elevate AI knowledge and skills across all levels of the civil service, while strengthening the public sector's capacity for smart transformation. By promoting widespread AI adoption within the government, Taiwan can drive AI development across industries and accelerate its transformation into a smart nation.

Three levels of training

Training for senior leadership — AI governance: Hold AI workshops for senior government officials to help them grasp AI development trends and application strategies, fostering their consensus on the use of AI to enhance public governance.

Training for mid-level leadership — AI empowerment: Organize AI seed talent certification courses for civil servants in mid-level supervisory roles, focusing on hands-on activities aimed at devising innovative AI-driven public service solutions, while supporting participants in earning professional AI literacy certifications.

Foundational training — AI application: Combine digital learning with in-person training to build comprehensive AI literacy and application skills among civil servants at all levels, assisting them in adopting AI technologies to improve work efficiency and public service quality.
