Executive Yuan promoting AI literacy in the public sector

:::

At Thursday's weekly Cabinet meeting, Premier Cho Jung-tai received a report from the Directorate-General of Personnel Administration on smart government and the cultivation of artificial intelligence (AI) talent in the public sector. The premier noted that, in light of the global rise of AI technology, the Executive Yuan approved a program in 2024 to enhance AI literacy among its civil servants. The program aims to actively promote AI applications in the public sector, integrating AI into the daily operations of government agencies and leveraging the technology to help the public solve problems.

Premier Cho encouraged government colleagues to embrace the idea of seeking new solutions for old problems and effective solutions for new problems, urging them to foster a spirit of collaboration and apply innovative thinking to address challenges, with the key being the practical application of what is learned. He called on ministries, agencies and local governments to take proactive steps in advancing AI literacy, so as to bring the government's vision of a smart nation to life.
