Beautifying landscapes to promote local development

:::

At a Cabinet meeting today, the Ministry of the Interior (MOI) reported on a project that is restoring and improving landscapes in urban and rural areas, which Premier Jiang Yi-huah said will create value for the locations and bring out their unique charms.

Jiang also urged the MOI to further maximize the efficacy of the project by strengthening cooperation and resource integration between different government sectors.

"Success of this interdisciplinary plan depends on active involvement of various ministries and agencies," Jiang stressed. "As the government is on a strict budget, the pooling of resources would certainly help avoid funding overlap, create a synergy as well as bolster local development."

The MOI's landscape beautification project focuses on:
● constructing or improving urban green space;
● building ecological and waterfront parks in cities;
● improving landscape at major traffic nodes;
● improving city roads and commuting environment;
● promoting human-centered concept in public space designs;
● reviving idle spaces; and
● encouraging resident-led community improvements.
