Queries may be made to Deputy Director Chiang Kuo-jen of the MOHW's Department of Social Assistance and Social Work at +886-918-095276.

The shipment of relief supplies to the Philippines shall be overseen by the Ministry of National Defense (MND) from today until November 23. The public may contribute drinking water, dry or canned food, sleeping bags, tents, power generators, prefabricated houses, medicines and disinfectants to the naval port, which is located at No. 10, Jieshou Road, Zuoying District, Kaohsiung City.

For any enquiries, please contact the officer responsible for the shipments, Captain Chen Wen-tsuen (Charles Chen) of the Navy Command Headquarters, at +886-932-492323.

At the Cabinet meeting this morning, Premier Jiang Yi-huah directed Minister without Portfolio Lin Junq-tzer to establish an inter-ministerial coordination platform for relief efforts to the Philippines.

In the afternoon, Lin convened a meeting with officials of related ministries and decided to set up the donation account and window. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) will serve as the government's liaison and keep in constant contact with its counterpart in the Philippines to ascertain what aid is needed in disaster areas.

The Executive Yuan stated that this second round of relief and rehabilitation efforts will last for a month, beginning today. Due to the scale of the damage, the reconstruction effort will probably take quite some time, but the administration will stay up to speed on the Philippines' needs and provide additional assistance in any way possible, officials promised.

President Ma and Premier Jiang are very concerned about conditions in the Philippines, and immediately after the news of the storm they instructed the MOFA and MND to work with Taiwanese non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to gather relief supplies. On November 10, the MOFA donated US$200,000 to the Philippines on behalf of the ROC. After collecting relief supplies from Taiwan's NGOs, which were very eager to be of assistance, the MND immediately flew these items to the Philippines in a C-130 airplane.

So far, Taiwan's government and citizens have provided NT$50 million (US$1.7 million) in relief. The administration said it will continue to perform follow-up work and send the public's donations to the disaster areas to help victims weather this adversity.
