At the Cabinet's weekly meeting Thursday, Premier Chen Chien-jen received a briefing from the Executive Yuan's Department of Coordination and Planning on the government's policy accomplishments since President Tsai Ing-wen took office on May 20, 2016. The premier said that under President Tsai's steady leadership, this administration has secured numerous substantial achievements that have made a tangible difference in people's lives. We have worked hand in hand to build a compassionate and resilient Taiwan, the premier said, garnering widespread recognition in various international assessments and raising the nation's visibility on the world stage.
Premier Chen praised members of the administration for their dedication and teamwork over the past eight years, seamlessly relaying responsibilities from one team to the next to promote the government's wide range of beneficial policies and development projects that have revitalized the economy, improved care and welfare services, protected the nation, strengthened democracy and enriched people's livelihoods. Of particular note, this Cabinet came together to implement the post-pandemic special budget and promote the Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Program, both of which have yielded significant achievements.
Premier Chen added that a brand new "active and innovative (AI) Cabinet" will take over on President-elect Lai Ching-te's inauguration day on May 20. The premier requested all ministries and agencies to continue their exertions in order to build upon the achievements of the outgoing administration, and ensure a proper handover so that the wheels of government turn seamlessly. Finally, the premier said he hopes that everyone within government will continue to work toward enhancing Taiwan's competitiveness and the well-being of all its people, uniting as one to propel the nation forward and create an even better homeland.
