Cabinet approves updated child health care improvement program

:::

At Thursday's Cabinet meeting, Premier Cho Jung-tai received a briefing from the Ministry of Health and Welfare on the second phase of the government's child health care improvement program. Starting in 2025, the Executive Yuan will expand funding for the program in order to comprehensively optimize the nation's medical care network for infants and children, and to protect their safety, the premier said.

The increase in investment through a second phase of the program will realize the government's vision of a healthier Taiwan, protecting the lives and health of newborns and children to reduce the number of preventable deaths and disabilities. Premier Cho added that in responding to the diverse needs of pediatric health care, the program will improve continuity of care for perinatal (prenatal to neonatal) newborns and infants; upgrade the effectiveness of childhood developmental screenings and referrals; strengthen pediatric primary care and health management; and enhance medical personnel training and quality of care for severe and rare pediatric diseases.
