Premier Cho Jung-tai on Monday received a delegation led by Ohashi Mitsuo, chairman of the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association. The premier thanked Chairman Ohashi for actively advancing and deepening Taiwan-Japan bilateral relations, and he looks forward to both sides making further progress in advancing Taiwan's bid to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), which he is confident will contribute to regional economic strength and prosperity.
The premier said Taiwan shoulders its responsibility for maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and the Indo-Pacific region, and he expressed hopes that Taiwan can participate substantially in more international affairs, and that Japan will continue to extend more support for Taiwan's role in international organizations in the future.
In his remarks, Chairman Ohashi said that the Japan-Taiwan relationship is a model to the world, which he hopes to continue to maintain and further develop. Chairman Ohashi said the Japan-Taiwan relationship is precious and he views it as his mission to promote the friendship, which he hopes and believes can serve as an example for other nations to follow, and help spread peace throughout the globe.
