Premier Jiang Yi-huah today thanked the European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan (ECCT) for years of sound and valuable advice that have helped the ROC government run its national affairs more smoothly.
Receiving ECCT Chairman Giuseppe Izzo at the Executive Yuan, the premier said that while the government is currently focused on joining regional economic trade blocs such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, Taiwan also places great value on expanding bilateral relationships with European countries.
"Having laid a foundation of good will and close cooperation, the government and the ECCT will continue building a more ideal business environment in Taiwan conducive to greater economic interaction between Taiwan and Europe," said the premier.
Premier Jiang said that he had instructed the National Development Council early this year to step up regulatory harmonization and deregulation of relevant economic and trade laws. The Council has also sought opinions and recommendations from the American, Japanese and European chambers of commerce as reference for national policies on economic and trade development.
