Premier invites youth to see 'Beyond Beauty' film

:::

In a show of support for Taiwan's film industry, Premier Jiang Yi-huah has invited more than 200 people—including students, journalists and director Chi Po-lin—to see the nation's first aerial photography documentary Beyond Beauty: Taiwan from Above on November 13, Executive Yuan Spokesperson Cheng Li-wen said today.

Chi, who completed the film earlier this year, is a 20-year veteran of aerial photography. Owing to his passion for Taiwan, he risked life and limb and endured the discomforts of high-altitude flying to bring audiences a bird's-eye view of the island's natural beauty. Combining this enthusiasm with talent and artistry, he captured stunning images of mountains and rivers as well as the scars suffered by Taiwan over time. The result was a poignant documentary that has touched audiences deep in their hearts, Cheng said.

Cheng added that Premier Jiang made it a point to invite students to the movie to encourage them to see the island from a different perspective. Hopefully, as young people identify with and gain a stronger sense responsibility for the island, they will be more protective of the environment. The premier's guests will include the Ministry of Education's youth counseling group as well as students from the Youth Development Association (YDA) networks in northern Taiwan, including representatives to the Youth Policy Forum, winners of the Policy Development Contest, YDA campus lecturers, top youth volunteer teams, and organizers of the Youth Travel Spots project.
