Premier expresses sorrow for victims of Taichung MRT construction accident

Premier Mao Chi-kuo expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of four people after a steel girder collapsed at a construction site for the Taichung Mass Rapid Transit today, Executive Yuan Spokesperson Sun Lih-chyun said.

The premier asked government agencies to extend every effort to help four others who were injured in the accident. The central government also stands ready to offer any assistance needed.

Safety must be the top priority, Premier Mao said, adding that authorities should thoroughly review construction conditions to prevent any more similar incidents in the future.
