Premier Lai urges agencies to continue combating money laundering

:::

Premier Lai Ching-te today urged government agencies to continue the fight against money laundering, saying the work has broad and significant impacts on Taiwan, including the maintenance of law and order, clean governance, Taiwan's financial and trade relations with other countries, even the efforts of Taiwanese firms to invest and expand overseas. The premier also called on the public to lend their support for this important work.

Taiwan's ability to prevent money laundering also affects its global reputation, the premier continued. With the Asia/Pacific Group on Money Laundering scheduled to begin its third round of mutual evaluations in November 2018, Taiwan has only one year remaining to prepare. The Executive Yuan's Anti-Money Laundering Office will bring in international experts and evaluators from December 4 to December 7 to conduct simulated evaluations and undertake a comprehensive review of Taiwan's regime. Premier Lai directed agencies to provide full cooperation and assist the Ministry of Justice in demonstrating the system's effectiveness.
