Agencies asked to coordinate with OCAC to deepen overseas ties

:::
Premier Jiang Yi-huah at today's Cabinet meeting asked various agencies to work together with the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) to help advance the Republic of China's diplomatic agenda, extend Taiwan's global economic reach and raise national competitiveness via overseas compatriots who are leaders in their respective fields as well as the expatriate community's dense business network.

The premier gave these instructions after hearing the OCAC's briefing on its accomplishments this year and planned future administrative actions.

With respect to the annual OCAC conference, which was held last week from November 11 to 13, Jiang said, "The main purpose of convening this forum is to hear our overseas compatriots' valuable opinions, consolidate these nationals' strength and brainstorm together on how to further develop our services for them. Meanwhile, we communicate our policies to them and help them understand the state of national development.

"This event significantly contributes to increasing interaction between the government and overseas compatriots and elevating understanding of how the overseas community is developing.

"Major achievements were made in every aspect of overseas community affairs during this year's conference," the premier affirmed. He asked the OCAC to follow up by thoroughly deliberating the conclusions reached at the conference and carrying out the communication and integration necessary for relevant inter-ministerial matters.
