At Thursday's weekly Cabinet meeting, Premier Lai Ching-te expressed thanks to the people, government and Congress of the United States for the passage of the Taiwan Travel Act and their firm and long-standing support of Taiwan across all areas. The premier said that the new law, which officially took effect on March 16, will help expand exchanges between the two nations.
The U.S. is an important and resolute ally of Taiwan on the global stage, said the premier. As a result of efforts by both sides, bilateral relations have continued to flourish, growing ever stronger and steadier as the years pass. As a member of the international community, Taiwan is committed to upholding the many responsibilities that come with that status. The nation will continue to develop its bilateral partnership with the U.S. across all areas and levels, working in tandem to contribute to the advancement of peace throughout the region.
