Premier Cho receives US-Taiwan Business Council delegation

:::

Premier Cho Jung-tai on Wednesday received a delegation from the US-Taiwan Business Council (USTBC). The premier said that Taiwan views the USTBC as a very important partner in the private sector, and he thanked the council for its tremendous assistance in continuing to promote inter-government and private sector relationships between Taiwan and the U.S., and enhancing bilateral business exchanges and U.S. trust in the Taiwan market.

Premier Cho said Taiwan looks forward to the signing of an avoidance of double taxation agreement (ADTA) to further resolve obstacles to bilateral trade and economic relations, and create even more opportunities especially in the areas of semiconductors and electric vehicles. This will also help Taiwan lay a solid foundation for its future accession to the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF), the premier said, so that we can together jointly advance prosperity and development in the Indo-Pacific region.

Keith Krach, the delegation's leader and the chairman of the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue University, said that some of the most prominent American companies, and tech companies in particular, are visiting Taiwan to promote innovation and adoption of trusted technology, and also to deepen investment from both sides, in order to ensure the development of a vibrant business ecosystem and a secure supply chain.

Last year, the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue announced the creation of the Taiwan Center for Innovation and Prosperity, which aims to facilitate two-way investment between the U.S. and Taiwan, and elevate Taiwan's international standing, the chairman said. The Krach Institute recently also launched the Tech Diplomacy Academy, an online platform for training global leaders from both the private and public sector in technologies that impact national security. The institute intends to partner with Taiwan in this area and develop courses on technology directly related to Taiwan's Five Trusted Industry Sectors.
