Executive Yuan commends students for ending protests peacefully

:::
The Executive Yuan commends students and activists for concluding their protest at the Ministry of Education (MOE) in a peaceful and rational manner, Executive Yuan Spokesperson Sun Lih-chyun said today.

As for the controversy surrounding the adjustments to the high school curriculum guidelines, the Executive Yuan supports the legislative cross-caucus resolution reached Tuesday and has ordered the MOE to immediately launch a committee review of the guidelines at the senior high school level and below. The MOE has been further instructed to ensure neutrality and procedural justice in this task, and to select members of the review committee for their social credibility and professional knowledge.

With teachers now free to choose their own textbooks, the MOE will also weigh whether to subsidize schools for any additional expenses incurred as a result, Sun said.
