Premier accepts transportation minister's resignation

:::
After another earnest conversation this evening, Premier Mao Chi-kuo reluctantly accepted the resignation of Yeh Kuang-shih as head of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC), Executive Yuan Spokesperson Sun Lih-chyun said.

The premier touted Minister Yeh for his dedication to promoting the high-speed rail financial restructuring plan, which regrettably was misconstrued by many people and voted down by the Legislature last week. Praising the minister's strength of character for shouldering political responsibility for the plan, Premier Mao thanked Yeh for leading and working with the MOTC staff to push through many important policies.

The duties of the transportation minister will be temporarily assigned to Deputy Minister Chen Jian-yu, Sun added.
