Cabinet-level One Health policy committee to enhance public health security

:::

At Thursday's weekly Cabinet meeting, Premier Cho Jung-tai received a report from the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) on the progress of Taiwan's national One Health joint action plan. The premier said that the plan is a crucial step in enhancing the nation's public health security system in line with international standards, bringing together the MOHW, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of the Interior and academic experts in the formation of a Cabinet-level policy committee to monitor global epidemic prevention trends and address future challenges.

Premier Cho directed the MOHW to utilize internationally recognized assessment tools to properly evaluate and plan the core capabilities of all relevant administrative systems, and requested full cooperation from all related ministries and agencies. He further tasked the MOHW with benchmarking the evaluation results against those of other countries and submitting them to the national One Health policy committee for rolling review, in order to enhance the overall effectiveness of the plan.
