Executive Yuan applauds DPP's concern for Taiwan's economy

:::
If the government is invited to attend the citizens' economic conference planned by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), the Executive Yuan would be happy to send representatives, Executive Yuan Spokesperson Sun Lih-chyun said today.

"The government applauds the DPP's concern for Taiwan's economic development," Sun said.

As for the national conference on economic and trade affairs being organized by the Executive Yuan, the regional meetings for northern and southern Taiwan have already taken place on June 21-22 and June 28-29, respectively.

This conference serves as a platform in which all citizens can express their opinions and exchange views in a fair manner, Sun continued. It aims to increase public confidence in economic and trade liberalization by building national consensus on two topics: Taiwan's strategies for economic development in a globalized world, and Taiwan's strategies for regional economic integration and cross-strait trade. Webcasts from the conference and related documents are available through the Executive Yuan's Facebook page and the National Development Council's national economic and trade conference webpage.

After the regional meetings for central and eastern Taiwan are held separately on July 5-6 and July 12-13, the final national conference will take place July 26-28 at the Taipei International Convention Center.

Once again, the Executive Yuan extends a sincere invitation to the DPP, Sun said, but if the opposition party declines and decides to organize its own conference instead, the government will respect that decision as well. The Executive Yuan is pleased to see the DPP working hard to find new pathways for Taiwan's economic development.
