Premier directs government preparations for Lunar New Year holiday

:::

At the Cabinet's weekly meeting Thursday, Premier Su Tseng-chang received briefings by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Council of Agriculture, Ministry of Health and Welfare, and Financial Supervisory Commission on measures related to the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday period. The premier instructed relevant ministries and agencies to carry out preparations, focusing on four main priorities of transportation, health care and disease prevention, provision of daily necessities, and financial services. He encouraged the use of technological assistance to monitor all situations under their purview, and emphasized the necessity of establishing emergency response mechanisms ahead of time.

The premier said the upcoming holiday will last for 10 days, the longest continuous Lunar New Year holiday period in Taiwan's history. Furthermore, Taiwan's borders have reopened, pandemic restrictions have been loosened and many citizens will undoubtedly return to their hometowns, go on tours or travel abroad. To ensure the public's peace of mind, the premier reiterated that, continuing with the practice of recent years, the government will be "open for the holidays" and maintain uninterrupted access to various public services. The premier directed the relevant ministries and agencies to carry out the necessary preparatory work in accordance with the four main priorities outlined above.

Premier Su also took the opportunity to thank all civil servants and officials who will be working during the Lunar New Year period, and instructed heads of ministries and agencies to show care and consideration for their staff to ensure they are able to discharge their public duties to the best of their abilities.
