The Executive Yuan today approved the instrument for Taiwan's participation in the Convention on the Conservation and Management of High Seas Fisheries Resources in the North Pacific Ocean. The proposed document will be sent to the Legislative Yuan for review.
Premier Jiang Yi-huah said the instrument represents an important step toward Taiwan's participation in an international mechanism for managing north Pacific regional fisheries, which will also allow Taiwan to better protect its fishing industry. He asked the Council of Agriculture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to communicate actively with lawmakers and accelerate the legislation process.
