To redouble its anti-corruption efforts, the Executive Yuan will hold a symposium on civil service ethics and clean government July 7.
It will be attended by 44 high-ranking officials, including ministry and commission heads, ministers without portfolio, the political deputy secretary-general and the spokesperson. President Ma Ying-jeou and Premier Sean Chen will deliver speeches on the importance of clean government and demand that government officials preserve their integrity and steer clear of corruption.
Organized by the Ministry of Justice's Agency Against Corruption, the symposium aims to drill civil servants on ethical regulations regarding accepting gifts and attending banquets or other work-related social functions. Besides group discussions and exchanges of work experiences, there will be speeches by prosecutors on relevant laws and regulations as well as in-depth analysis of previous corruption cases.
Officials said that since integrity is a basic requirement for government officials, the government will continue to strengthen its anti-corruption agencies and strive to create a clean government, and this seminar is part of that effort.
