In response to North Korea's announcement of a "successful" nuclear weapons test, Executive Yuan Spokesperson Cheng Li-wun said Premier Sean Chen obtained detailed information of North Korea's plans before they were carried out and that the event was immediately verified by the ROC's overseas missions. "The premier has a firm grasp of the situation," she said.
Cheng also noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Defense have already updated relevant countermeasures in light of recent events, and they will continue to closely monitor developments in North Korea as well as the reactions of its neighbors, such as South Korea and Japan.
