At Thursday's weekly Cabinet meeting, the Ministry of Culture (MOC) provided a briefing on the Reconstruction of Taiwan's Art History project. Premier Cho Jung-tai said the project, which has received an update, implements President Lai Ching-te's vision of revitalizing the nation through promoting art, and will enrich Taiwan's cultural content.
The project to reconstruct Taiwan's art history began in 2018 and has already accumulated considerable achievements, the premier said. The government will continue to build and augment Taiwan's cultural DNA and cultural memory by managing the collection, research and promotion of the history of Taiwan's art, music, literature, architecture and traditional opera, in order to promote a revitalization of the arts and cultivate the nation's soft power.
The premier instructed the MOC to continue developing local art scenes, providing data collected by this project for use in training the Taiwan-built Trustworthy AI Dialogue Engine (TAIDE) large language model, and planning the completion of a national art gallery at Tainan Art Museum Building 2.
