The ROC (Taiwan) national team won two more gold medals today at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea. Chou Chia-chen garnered a gold medal in women's singles bowling, while the quartet of Chan Ching-wei, Chan Hao-ching, Chan Yung-jan and Hsieh Su-wei triumphed in women's team tennis.
Premier Jiang Yi-huah immediately sent a congratulatory message upon hearing the news, praising the athletes for their outstanding performance and for bringing pride to the nation.
Chou overwhelmed all the other competitors in the women's singles bowling competition with a score of 1,291, winning the third gold medal for the national team, the Ministry of Education's Sports Administration pointed out.
Chan Yung-jan and Hsieh shone as Taiwan took two of three matches in the women's team tennis final against archrival mainland China. After Chan Yung-jan won a hard-fought singles match 7-6 (8), 7-6 (4), she teamed up with Hsieh to take the doubles match 6-2, 7-5.
