Premier attends Ma Zu pilgrimage ceremony in Dajia

:::

Premier Lin Chuan attended the closing ceremony of the annual Dajia Ma Zu Pilgrimage today, praying for national peace and prosperity, and the health and well-being of all Taiwan's citizens.

The premier noted that the annual Ma Zu pilgrimage is a major religious event in Taiwan that also receives much international attention, and lasts for nine days and eight nights, winding its way for 350 kilometers across Taichung, Changhua, Yunlin and Chiayi. He was quite moved to see so many believers following in the steps of Ma Zu's palanquin, expressing their dedication, reverence and gratitude to this traditional goddess of the sea and protector of fishermen.

The Ma Zu pilgrimage embodies the compassion, care, empathy and mutual assistance of Taiwan's people, as well as household harmony and happiness, the premier said. He thus hopes this kind of folk activity will continue to thrive so that more people will come under Ma Zu's care, and Taiwan society will change for the better. He also prayed that Ma Zu will continue to protect Taiwan and foster a peaceful society and healthy citizens.
