Premier calls for fast-tracking of new budgets and bills

:::
At the latest round of interpellations at the Legislative Yuan today, Premier Sean Chen asked legislators to fast-track the approval process of the 2013 fiscal budget and major bills proposed by the Executive Yuan. These are central to accelerating Taiwan's economic growth and enriching the livelihoods of citizens across the country, he said.

Boosting the economy, stabilizing prices, and caring for the disadvantaged are all at the top of the national agenda as Taiwan faces grim economic situations at home and abroad, said the premier. Hence the Executive Yuan has gone all out to implement the Economic Power-Up Plan to spur investments, exports and employment in the short term, while also stepping up industrial restructuring and beefing up national competiveness in the medium and long term.

The premier thanked Legislative Yuan President Wang Jin-pyng, Vice President Hung Hsiu-chu and other legislators for constructive suggestions that have brought government policies closer in line with people's needs and expectations. He also thanked the Legislative Yuan staff and the news media for keeping the public informed of the policies, stressing that the Cabinet welcomes public scrutiny and will strive to do the best possible job.
