Hsu Chun-yat tipped as minister without portfolio and PCC minister

:::
Hsu Chun-yat (Jack Hsu) has been tipped for the post of minister of the Public Construction Commission and will concurrently serve as the Executive Yuan's minister without portfolio in charge of public construction affairs, Executive Yuan Spokesperson Sun Li-chyun announced today.

Hsu holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from National Cheng Kung University and a master's degree in transportation engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand. He built his career at the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC), serving variously as chief engineer and chief secretary of the Taiwan Area National Freeway Bureau, deputy director-general of the Directorate General of Highways, deputy director-general of the Bureau of High Speed Rail, director-general of the Department of Railways and Highways, director-general of the Railway Reconstruction Bureau, and administrative deputy minister of the MOTC itself.

A career civil servant, Hsu is industrious, responsible, and regarded as an important driving force behind both traditional and high speed railways, the Executive Yuan said. He brings a wealth of expertise to the task of overseeing public construction affairs and is expected to serve the nation well.

Separately, Hakka Affairs Council Minister Huang Yu-cheng has recently resigned citing family reasons. His post will be temporarily filled by the council's deputy minister, Liu Ching-chung.
