In response to the news today that the Next Media Group has signed a contract to sell its Taiwanese print and television businesses, the Executive Yuan expressed its respect for the freedom of the press, a basic right and foundation of democracy protected under the Constitution of the Republic of China.
The Executive Yuan also emphasized that the review of this case, like any other, must be administered according to the law, and it will respect the freedom of independent agencies to exercise their powers as appropriate.
