Vice Premier Cheng receives Israeli Representative Maya Yaron

:::

Vice Premier Cheng Li-chiun on Tuesday met with Maya Yaron, representative of the Israeli Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei (ISECO). The vice premier said that in recent years, exchanges between Taiwan and Israel have deepened, encompassing close collaboration in areas such as the economy and trade, technological innovation, culture, education and health care. To date, 34 agreements have been signed between Taiwan and Israel, including a joint declaration on tourism cooperation and an agreement on cultural collaboration, which were signed last year. On behalf of the Executive Yuan, Vice Premier Cheng expressed gratitude to Representative Yaron for her efforts in promoting bilateral cooperation and exchanges during her tenure at the ISECO. She also thanked Israel for its support of Taiwan's participation in international organizations.

Furthermore, Vice Premier Cheng emphasized that through innovation and the effective use of technology, we can address various societal issues and build a secure and trustworthy technological industry supply chain to support the greater global supply chain between democracies. She also expressed her hope that Taiwan and Israel will continue to strengthen their collaborations in technological innovation.

In her remarks, Representative Yaron said Israel has a culture of innovation, driven by a willingness to question things, while Taiwan excels in smart manufacturing. This is where our two economies complement each other, she said, and where we can cooperate to play a more crucial role in international democratic supply chains.

Representative Yaron also expressed gratitude for Taiwan's long-standing friendship and support for Israel, emphasizing that both sides share a commitment to human rights, upholding democracy and other common values.
