ROC (Taiwan) track cyclist Hsiao Mei-yu won the women's omnium today, giving the national team its fifth gold medal in the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
Premier Jiang Yi-huah has sent a message to Hsiao congratulating her for her excellent performance and for bringing pride to the nation.
The omnium is a six-event competition testing a cyclist's overall skills. Thanks to her victories in the 500 meter time trial, flying lap, 24 km points race and elimination race, Hsiao triumphed with an aggregate score of 227.
This is Hsiao's third Asian Games and her second Asian Games gold medal in track cycling.
The 2014 Asian Games are running from September 19 to October 4.
