The Executive Yuan today approved the draft Administrative Directions 2014, which will serve as a general guideline for ministries and agencies when drawing up their own policies and budgets.
Premier Jiang Yi-huah said the document's contents have been agreed upon by all ministries and reviewed by the ministers without portfolio. According to the Budget Act, the Executive Yuan must draft administrative directions before the end of every March to allow ministries and agencies to draw up their administrative and budgetary plans by the end of August.
With the theme of "building a democratic society of prosperity and propriety," the document points to six major goals for next year:
- Boosting economic growth and employment
- Strengthening infrastructure and narrowing the urban-rural gap
- Helping the disadvantaged and advancing social justice
- Promoting diversified energy sources and building a sustainable, low-carbon Taiwan
- Training talent and engaging citizens in the humanities
- Expanding diplomatic ties and promoting cross-strait peace
These efforts aim to enhance Taiwan's international competitiveness, promote environmental sustainability and cultural literacy, and create a fair and just society.
