The Executive Yuan today held a joint handover ceremony for the new premier and Cabinet ministers. Under the supervision of Vice President Wu Den-yih, departing Premier Mao Chi-kuo handed the seal of the office over to incoming Premier Chang San-cheng.
Premier Chang stated that he expects the administrative team members to stick to their posts during their remaining tenure of less than four months, do whatever is necessary, and aim for sustainability, effectiveness and thoroughness during the handover to the new government so that all good administrative measures can be sustained. The premier also expects the incoming ruling party to speedily form a transition team and work hand in hand with the Cabinet in order to give the nation a good model for future transfers of power between parties.
Vice President Wu stated that aside from inheriting the past and forging ahead, the Executive Yuan must align its administration with popular will while proactively and smoothly carrying out the handover to the new government.
Wu extolled the many achievements of former Premier Mao, noting that his tenure saw the implementation of Banking 3.0 and Productivity 4.0, the electrification of the Hualien-Taitung railway, the passage of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction and Management Act, the maintenance of law and order, the elevation of Taiwan to a major tourist nation with more than 10 million visitors annually, and improvement of Taiwan's global competitiveness.
Wu believes Premier Chang will lead the Cabinet to steadily forge ahead in the next four months so that the government will not be idle for even one minute and will work all-out for the goal of putting Taiwan first for the benefit of the people.
