Chen Yu-mei has been named Deputy Minister of the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC), the Executive Yuan announced today.
Deputy Minister Chen has an undergraduate diploma from the Aoyama Gakuin University School of Business in Japan and an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from the National Taiwan University College of Management. She has served as host for Taiwan Television Enterprise and Broadcasting Corporation of China programs, spokesperson for the Kuomintang, chief executive officer of the C.K. Chen Foundation, and chairman of the Council for Industrial and Commercial Development's class of 1994. At the time of her appointment, she was a Taipei City Councilor.
"Chen Yu-mei has an extensive academic and work record which will help the OCAC promote trade and investment by overseas citizens," the Executive Yuan stated. "Her rich experience in congressional liaison and talent for coordination will help the OCAC expand its services for compatriots abroad. Furthermore, she and Minister Chen Shyh-kwei have known each other for many years. They fully trust and understand one another, which will aid the ministry's operations."
