Updated anti-fraud strategy introduces stronger protections

:::

At the Cabinet's weekly meeting Thursday, Premier Cho Jung-tai received briefings from several ministries and agencies regarding version 2.0 of the government's next-generation anti-fraud strategy guidelines. The premier pointed out that the Fraud Crime Hazard Prevention Act, along with three complementary laws and legal amendments, were enacted in 2024 to comprehensively address the existing problem of fraudulent crime and respond to emerging forms of online and telecom fraud. The new legislation has granted law enforcement agencies more powerful tools for enforcement and regulation.

The premier went on to say that the updated anti-fraud guidelines not only consolidate issues related to digital economy industries but also establish a new approach to combating fraud. Specifically, the guidelines address the current situation by formulating new strategies and measures to enhance AI-based prevention, deepen cross-border cooperation, regulate anti-fraud industries and strengthen victim protections. Premier Cho urged relevant ministries and agencies to collaborate with local governments, ensuring that each fulfills its designated role, so that the public can see tangible results from these measures.
