While visiting the Meet the Future entrepreneurship pavilion at Computex Taipei 2015 today, Premier Mao Chi-kuo remarked that Taiwan's economy is undergoing transformation, and both the industrial structure and the economic outlook are facing immense challenges, so young people must seek out and realize their dreams to transform Taiwan.
Every generation has a dream, and although the content and means of achieving the dream may differ from generation to generation, the core spirit of creativity and innovation remains the same, the premier said.
Mao noted that compared to his own generation, the young generation has greater passion for startups. Some people have chosen the path of social enterprise, resulting in its sprouting in various forms. The youths present at Computex Taipei are more technology-oriented, incorporating telecommunications, mobile and information technology, the Internet of Things and big data to realize their dreams. They employ innovation and creativity to create products that could generate new commercial models.
The premier pointed out that since he took the premiership, one of the administration's major goals has been to create careers for youths. The government has implemented changes in laws and regulations, funding and international linkage.
To meet the legal needs of the online world, the government has promoted measures regarding third-party payment and crowdfunding platforms as well as close company and limited partnership laws, which are of much concern to the public.
As for capital, the government has prepared various public and private funds, such as the National Development Fund, in addition to supplying loans and setting up direct investment platforms.
In international linkage, the administration has set up many platforms to link with top international startup teams in order to help young people foster a global perspective and move out to international markets while using Taiwan as a base.
The premier reiterated that the responsibility of his generation is to create an environment for all youths to pursue and realize their dreams, and the government will go all-out to better the overall startup environment.
