Taiwan Culture Base policy to integrate culture into everyday life

:::

At Thursday's weekly Cabinet meeting, Premier Cho Jung-tai received a Ministry of Culture briefing on a policy to promote 110 "culture bases" that highlight key cultural locations across Taiwan. Regarding these sites, which are spread across all 22 counties and cities, the premier said they offer windows into the distinct cultural charm of each region and reflect the vitality and diversity of Taiwanese culture.

Premier Cho urged ministries and agencies to fully leverage the culture bases to harness the vibrant energy of Taiwan's communities and to provide spaces for implementing and showcasing national policies. This could include promoting environmental education, advancing food and agriculture education, incorporating the bases into tourism routes, and other efforts that would enable all people to gain a deeper appreciation of Taiwan's diverse local cultures and rich regional character. He also instructed the transportation, agriculture, environment and education ministries to collaborate in gathering stories from across Taiwan so they can be shared with international audiences, as part of a broader push to promote tourism.
