Premier Sean Chen has nominated former Kuomintang legislator Cheng Li-wun to serve as Executive Yuan Spokesperson, Executive Yuan Secretary-General Steven S.K. Chen said today. She would fill the post vacated October 6 by Hu Yu-wei.
According to the secretary-general, the premier reviewed several candidates for the position following Hu's departure and finalized the appointment after a long conversation with Cheng last night.
"The premier sought a spokesperson familiar with the media environment and able to give detailed explanations of policy in plain language. Cheng is just such a person," Secretary-General Chen said.
The Executive Yuan has reported the decision to the Office of the President, and relevant personnel procedures are expected to be completed soon, he added.
