Assist businesses' brand development and globalization: premier

:::
Premier Mao Chi-kuo today enjoined the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) to continue to assist enterprises to explore potential and niche markets, establish brand value and strengthen online marketing so as to expedite businesses' globalization and usher in export growth.

After being briefed at the Cabinet meeting today by the MOEA on Branding Taiwan Campaign measures and efficacy, the premier noted that the nation's industry started out in manufacturing, accumulating over time abundant experience and gradually advancing toward research and development and design as well as developing innovation capabilities. Such dexterity and acumen have set the foundation and edge for Taiwanese enterprises to develop international brands. However, brand development cannot be achieved overnight and requires long-term operation and deployment.

Brand development is conducive to raising domestic enterprises' global exposure, expanding their exports and creating job opportunities, Mao said. It is also an important way to highlight Taiwan's outstanding products and services. Both the government and industrial sector must pool their efforts long-term and collaborate closely to develop a multiplier effect.

In order to expedite Taiwanese enterprises' brand development, the Executive Yuan has approved the Branding Taiwan Campaign program, the MOEA pointed out. Via the two major strategies of raising Taiwanese enterprises' international image and promoting entrepreneurial branding and operations assistance, the MOEA will work to help international consumers recognize and trust Taiwanese brands through such measures as selecting exquisite products, appraising products' international brand value, strengthening businesses' economic structure, conducting online marketing, and transforming operational and manufacturing concepts in order to generate higher earnings and growth.

In the future the Branding Taiwan Campaign will work in line with the Executive Yuan's industrial policies, such as its new strategies for export transformation and Productivity 4.0, to develop potential or niche markets. Meanwhile, the MOEA will assist in incorporating the campaign's core capabilities and promoting the international image of domestic enterprises to increase export and growth.
