The National Communications Commission has completed auctioning licenses for fourth-generation mobile broadband services to local operators, marking a new milestone in Taiwan's telecommunications industry, it reported at this morning's Cabinet meeting.
Premier Jiang Yi-huah said the release of the licenses is also expected to open up a wave of new applications and services, all of which will help transform related industries and lift Taiwan's economy.
The government will continue to narrow the digital gap between urban and rural areas while helping businesses develop stronger applications and services. The premier asked Minister without Portfolio Chang San-cheng to supervise and coordinate the commission and other agencies in constructing mobile broadband networks that will provide citizens with quality, super-fast telecommunication services at affordable prices.
