The Executive Yuan is expected to review the draft bill for a cross-strait agreement supervisory mechanism at the Cabinet council meeting this Thursday at the earliest, Executive Yuan Spokesperson Sun Lih-chyuan said today.
Premier Jiang Yi-huah instructed the Mainland Affairs Council to draft the bill after President Ma Ying-jeou announced his support for the mechanism last week, Sun said. If approved by the Cabinet, it will be forwarded to the Legislative Yuan for ratification.
The president also met with Premier Jiang last week to discuss requests from industry groups to hold a national affairs conference on trade and economics. The premier thereafter directed the National Development Council to assess the feasibility of organizing such a conference and the format in which it would be held. The assessment results will be finalized before Thursday at the earliest and released to the public.
