The Executive Yuan will convene the first meeting of its youth advisory group tomorrow morning (July 22).
Premier Jiang Yi-huah pays great attention to the views of young people and has high expectations for the group, Executive Yuan Spokesperson Sun Lih-chyun stated. In this meeting the premier will exchange views with the young advisors and discuss instituting the group's operating mechanism.
One purpose of this meeting is to help the young advisors understand the role they play, which is to serve as a bridge of communication between the government and the nation's youth, stated Spokesperson Sun. In addition, discussions will be held to seek a consensus on the operation of the youth advisory group and the formulation of an online communication platform. It is hoped that a real-time interactive website and platform that young people can surf and participate in transparently will be established.
The meeting will be conducted through panel discussions. Of the six panels, five will feature an Executive Yuan minister without portfolio, and the acting minister of education will sit on the sixth. Premier Jiang will also go around to each panel to listen to and exchange views with the young advisors.
The Executive Yuan stated that the premier expects the youth advisory group to be an effective bridge of communication between the government and young people, provide the administration with consultation and recommendations, and reflect the views and appeals of the nation's youth in a timely fashion.
At the same time, the premier anticipates that through their familiarity with the Executive Yuan's operations and functions, the group members may not only help young people know more about national policies but also strike a consensus among youth and work together with the government to care for social problems and seek means for their solutions, the Executive Yuan added.
