Premier Lai Ching-te on Thursday congratulated Taipei City, New Taipei City and Pingtung County police forces as well as the Criminal Investigation Bureau for Tuesday's successful raid on an amphetamine production factory.
The joint operation was marked by three features—a significant drug haul, the uncovering of a narcotics manufacturing plant, and inter-regional as well as inter-ministerial collaboration—all of which attest to the effectiveness of the government's New Generation Anti-drug Strategy, he said.
In addition to flushing out drug users, the strategy looks to disrupt narcotics suppliers and factories upstream and delve into communities downstream to gather information and intelligence. The premier encouraged the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Justice to keep up the good work and wage an ever more effective campaign against drugs.
