President affirms Cabinet's work, asks premier to stay on

:::

Premier Su Tseng-chang spoke Monday morning to offer successful incumbent President Tsai Ing-wen his resignation following Saturday's presidential and national legislative elections, and also headed a 5 p.m. ad hoc meeting of the Cabinet to tender the executive team's mass resignation. However, President Tsai asked the premier to stay on, saying that his performance in office and demonstrated administrative effectiveness oblige him to continue leading the Cabinet and contending with Taiwan's domestic and international challenges.

Premier Su thanked President Tsai for her affirmation and the confidence she has placed in him and his Cabinet over the past year. All members of the Cabinet will remain in their positions, and the premier will continue in the lead to realize the president's governing principles. The team will be grounded in the will of the people and focused on meeting the people's needs, getting the job done, and implementing policies for the nation's well-being so that the public can see and appreciate that the government is working assiduously on their behalf. At a time when Taiwan faces a number of daunting challenges at home and abroad, the Cabinet team will not cease to advance the nation forward into the future.
