Cabinet passes draft cybersecurity management law

:::

The Cabinet today passed a draft cybersecurity management law at its weekly meeting that will be sent to the Legislature for deliberation.

Premier Lin Chuan said that information and communication security are important issues that must be addressed to safeguard national security and the public interest. He then requested that the Executive Yuan's Department of Cyber Security actively communicate and coordinate with the Legislature's party caucuses to complete the required legislative procedures as soon as possible.

The Department of Cyber Security already has a plan in place to address any information security personnel shortages at government organizations after the cybersecurity bill becomes law, the premier said. He also requested that the heads of government agencies consider the necessity and importance of cybersecurity, and within the scope of their allotted headcounts, deploy reasonable personnel resources in their own agencies and subordinate organizations to implement and promote national cybersecurity tasks.

The premier then requested that the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Economic Affairs and National Development Council assist in promoting the development of cybersecurity personnel, and gradually promote comparable personnel development in industry and academia to achieve strategic cybersecurity personnel goals.
