Proposed child care law to safeguard children's well-being and safety

:::

At Thursday's weekly Cabinet meeting, Premier Cho Jung-tai received a Ministry of Health and Welfare briefing on a proposed law to enhance the safety of child care services and provide parents with greater peace of mind. Based on the core principle of prioritizing the best interests of children, the proposed act will set strict legal standards for the qualifications and responsibilities of child care workers, strengthen the establishment and oversight of child care institutions, and ensure comprehensive protection for children in care with respect to their physical, mental and educational development. The Executive Yuan has approved the draft bill for the act, which will be submitted to the Legislative Yuan for deliberation.

Premier Cho also highlighted that the government's efforts to create a high-quality child care system are grounded in the belief that supporting children's growth is a shared social responsibility. The government will continue to promote public child care policies while also encouraging private sector involvement to maximize support for families, working hand in hand with parents to create safe, nurturing and high-quality environments where children can thrive.
