Government well-prepared to protect citizens from terrorism

:::
The Executive Yuan stated today that national security agencies and the Executive Yuan's relevant ministries and agencies have counter-terrorism mechanisms in place and are well-prepared to maintain security.

These units have always closely monitored the development of international terrorism and conducted relevant security measures, the Executive Yuan said. They have enhanced intelligence gathering about terrorist activities and mitigated terrorist threats and danger.

Regarding the Islamic State's (IS) publicity-campaign video that shows the ROC flag among IS-targeted nations, national security and relevant Executive Yuan agencies have already initiated counter-terrorism mechanisms and fortified relevant security measures.

Based on the nation's founding spirit of peace and respect for universal human rights, the ROC government is naturally concerned about terrorist threats to global security, the Executive Yuan pointed out. In addition, the ROC has always played the role of delivering humanitarian relief and support to disaster victims.

The Executive Yuan further stated that the ROC is a democratic nation, an open society that advocates freedom of speech and religion and respects ethnic diversity. It faces relatively little threat from any particular ideology. The government will continue to implement various social-harmony measures to create a friendly and safe living environment for all citizens. National security and relevant Executive Yuan agencies will carry out the best response measures to safeguard citizens.
