Last year 93.73% of major public construction completed on schedule

:::
At today's Cabinet meeting, Premier Sean Chen stated that performance on public construction projects in 2012 surpassed 2011's efforts, whether it was in terms of budget implementation or prevention of bid cancellations and withdrawals. The accomplishment rate for projects with budgets exceeding NT$100 million (US$3.37 million) reached 93.73 percent, an improvement on the previous record of 92.41 percent achieved in 2010, reaching the target set by the Executive Yuan in its November 15, 2012 meeting. Premier Chen expressed his gratitude to Minister Chern Jenn-chuan of the Public Construction Commission (PCC) and the staff of other related ministries and local governments for contributing to this success.

Premier Chen made these remarks after being briefed by the PCC on the progress made in implementing public projects in 2012.

"I hope every ministry will use innovative fiscal means to promote further development of these projects, such as inducing private sector participation through models like build-operate-transfer (BOT) or offering the use of public assets, to achieve even greater success this year," Chen said.
