Premier Jiang Yi-huah today ordered the establishment of a platform for communication between the Executive Yuan and the Legislature on legal prevention of media monopolies. It will be led by Minister without Portfolio Chang San-cheng.
This is the third special platform for communication between the Executive Yuan and the Legislative Yuan on specific issues; the other two are for nuclear safety and pension reform.
"The Executive Yuan has always placed great importance on the effectiveness of its communication with the Legislature," Jiang said. "On issues like these which are of great concern to the public, executive agencies must collect the public views, coordinate among themselves when making policies, and respond to public demands very quickly.
"The legislative and executive branches must nurture mutual trust, and through sincere communication and rational dialogue, prompt partisan cooperation on major policy issues rather than resort to antagonism and confrontation," he continued. "This is what the public wants to see."
