Executive Yuan seeks dialogue with opposition parties

:::

Premier Jiang Yi-huah said today that he would like to visit all opposition party leaders in order to have sincere dialogue with them about the important legislation and major policy issues to be deliberated in the next session of the Legislature.

"Candid dialogue is a very important element of quality democratic politics," the premier said.

The Executive Yuan spoke with the People First Party before the Lunar New Year about Jiang's desire to talk with its leadership, Spokesperson Cheng Li-wun said, and it is waiting for responses from the Democratic Progressive Party and Taiwan Solidarity Union after having called them to make arrangements.

The Executive Yuan is also setting up special executive-legislative communication platforms on major issues to ensure smooth communication between the two branches of government. Premier Jiang has already established two such platforms: one on nuclear safety, headed by Vice Premier Mao Chi-kuo, and the other on pension reform, headed by Minister without Portfolio Steven S.K. Chen.
