Premier lauds success of 2023 Hakka Expo and Hakka policies

:::

At the Cabinet's weekly meeting Thursday, Premier Chen Chien-jen received a Hakka Affairs Council (HAC) briefing on the 2023 Hakka Expo and other Hakka affairs policy achievements. The premier said the 2023 Hakka Expo was held across 66 days and welcomed about 11 million visitors, bringing economic benefits of over NT$20 billion (US$618.8 million). The expo showcased to the world the attractive qualities of Hakka culture, as well as the resilience and strength of Taiwan's post-pandemic recovery.

Premier Chen pointed out that to support the development of Hakka culture, the Executive Yuan has progressively planned and introduced a range of regulations, systems, budgets and policies. This includes allocating the HAC a cumulative budget of NT$30.1 billion (US$931.2 million) over an eight-year period (2017-2024) to smooth and assist the promotion of Hakka policies.

The premier instructed the HAC to continue promoting the rejuvenation of Hakka language, arts and culture, as well as the economic revitalization of Hakka communities. He also urged ministries and agencies to continue creating friendly social environments for all of the nation's ethnic groups to facilitate the vigorous development of Taiwan's Hakka culture and economy.
